Our client is a growing and innovative legal firm dedicated to excellence in client service. Based in the heart of Huddersfield, they pride themselves on their supportive and collaborative work culture. We are currently looking for a talented Legal Secretary to join their Care and Public Team.

 

The Role:

 

As a Legal Secretary, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team of lawyers, ensuring high standards of client care and maintaining the confidentiality and security of all documentation. Your excellent communication skills will be key in liaising with internal personnel and external institutions, helping to build and maintain strong working relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Typing various documents, including court documents, applications, emails, and file notes.
  • Preparing legal aid applications on CCMS.
  • Opening and managing files on our case management system.
  • Answering calls and assisting clients with enquiries.
  • Scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings.
  • Handling incoming emails and post, and corresponding as necessary.
  • Utilizing digital dictation (BigHand).
  • Keeping the case management database up-to-date.
  • Ensuring all work is fully time-recorded for billing purposes.
  • Preparing Court bundles.
  • Supporting other fee earners within the team.
  • Maintaining and updating the experts’ register.
  • Providing cover for other secretaries in their absence.
  • Assisting fee earners with billing, closing files, and handling invoices.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a Care and Public department at a law firm, or similar relevant experience.
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Proficient typing skills and experience with digital dictation.
  • Highly motivated and proactive.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Efficient, with a keen eye for detail.
